Common Scams to Avoid
At Stuttgart Airport, some taxi drivers have been reported to take unnecessarily long routes into the city center, targeting arrivals unfamiliar with the short distance. Always request the driver use the direct B27 route and consider using the official airport taxi queue where drivers are registered.
Unlicensed 'private drivers' sometimes approach travelers in the arrivals area offering rides at inflated rates compared to standard taxis or public transport. Politely decline and proceed to the official taxi rank or S-Bahn station located directly beneath Terminal 1.
Currency exchange kiosks in the airport terminal have been noted to offer poor exchange rates with hidden fees. Use the ATMs from major German banks located in the terminal for better rates, or wait to exchange money in the city center.
